Hi there! Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. I don't know what time of the day it is when you're listening to this.
The fascinating thing about time – time is not linear. We hear this a lot, "Time's not linear," and it's kind of a thing to think about that non-linearity. It's just this sort of, you sit too long with it, confound your brain, it boggles it a bit, which makes sense because our brain wants to catch guys. Our brain wants to organize and fix and find function for everything and put it all in order. Like our brain is all about making order if you think about it as you walk through your day every day.
You're narrating your experience. Your eyes look at that tree, oh, look at it. If you think about it, you're just narrating the experience, but it's really your mind identifying and making order to things, seeing what appears to be in order versus out of order, and being able to create conversation pieces around it or move on to different things based on what's happening. Like, based on what's happening in the world, are you gonna put on a winter jacket or even put on a tank top right here, you know? Because you've been able to observe what's happening outside with the weather, and your brain will identify. And then if you're in the middle of winter, and you put on your jacket and you walk outside, and it's 80°, it's confusing. Like, that's not how it's meant to be. That's out of order. Our brain is constantly creating things in a timeline. This is the time for winter, and this is the time for summer, and this is what to expect at these different times.
However, as I said, it's not linear. Like, where I am in time right now, interesting thing to think about, where I am in time right now is not where you are in time right now. We're both in, like, I am currently in a present moment of recording this podcast; you're currently in a present moment of listening to the podcast. But we're in different times. You could be listening to it a year from where I am in this present moment; you could be listening to it a day from where I am in this present moment. Things are going on around us that are happening that we're not there for, and then when we go to look at it or recall it or participate in it, it's on a different timeline.
I truly believe that there are parts of us that have deeper knowing of what is to come and tapping into that – like that idea that there is a piece of divinity that knows the path, that has the soul path. That there's a – I believe the way you get there is your design, it's your creation, and it's not linear. It's not like I made – I did this, and now I moved to this one, and I knew I moved to this one, and it's like up the ladder you go, right? That you're gonna go up and down, into the left, into the right, just in – having this out right now.
The original, I say the original like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I like Johnny Depp. The original is by far my favorite, and Gene Wilder plays Willy Wonka, and they're in the elevator, and the elevator's to push button, and then it goes all the directions. It just doesn't go up and down; it goes all the directions. And this is time. It goes all the directions.
One of the best ways that I use this idea that it's not linear is that all different parts of time are working in my favor. Like all different parts of myself are working in my favor – my past self, my future self, my present self – they all desire for happiness, right? And so, how have my past experiences informed to be happy in this present moment? In this present moment, where can I find peace and happiness that will inform my future? And then knowing that it all wants to kind of come together and they're just in different timelines.
It's a really peaceful thought for me, and I love to look back and think, you know, where in time have I felt my best, and then I feel into that. That was available to me then, that is available to me now, and that is available to me in my future because at any time I can choose.
I hope you have a great day. Choose wisely, my friends. Time is not linear. Where you are in time right now will not be where you are in time tomorrow. You'll never be in this time again, so take all the juice out of it and make it your best. Have a great day, and I'll see you next time.
