Today, I had an Airbnb experience that left my heart feeling full and open in ways I didn’t expect. Some guests who didn’t have a car ordered Starbucks through DoorDash, but the order arrived wrong. I knew this because I was cleaning the space next to them and stepped outside just as their order was being dropped off. Seeing their frustration, I felt a tug—a nudge from within.
Instead of brushing it off as "not my problem," I offered to drive to Starbucks and get it sorted for them. It was a small act, but I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and connection as I handed them the corrected drinks. Helping them, simply for the sake of kindness, opened my heart in a way that reminded me of how good it feels to serve others.
The story didn’t end there. At Starbucks, the barista fixed the order with a smile and handed me two free gift cards as a thank-you. I hadn’t expected anything in return, yet this unexpected act of generosity flowed back to me.
This experience made me reflect deeply on the heart—not just as an organ but as the source of clarity, fullness, openness, and strength.
Clarity
Driving to Starbucks, I realized clarity arises when we act from love rather than obligation or ego. The decision to help wasn’t complicated—it just felt right.
Fullness
That moment of delivering the correct order wasn’t just about the coffee. It was about connection and seeing how small acts of kindness fill both the giver and receiver.
Openness
Offering to help required openness—being willing to step out of my day-to-day routine and into theirs. I had to trust that leaning into this moment of service was worth it.
Strength
Strength showed up as resilience—the ability to stay grounded in love, even when life feels busy or inconvenient. It’s not about grand gestures but showing up with quiet courage when called.
Barriers to the Heart
I often wonder how fear and pride can prevent us from experiencing these moments. What if I had let fear stop me? “What if they don’t appreciate it?” Or pride: “It’s not my responsibility.” These barriers pull us away from the heart into a closed, guarded space.
Living With a Full Heart
What unfolded from this small gesture was a chain of generosity. The barista’s gift cards reminded me that the universe has a way of mirroring back the energy we put into it. But this wasn’t about getting something in return—it was about living from a place of alignment with my heart.
Reflecting on this experience, I realized it wasn’t just about helping my Airbnb guests. It was about tuning into the heart's deeper intelligence and trusting it as my compass.
Ask yourself today:
What small act of kindness could open my heart?
Where am I being called to let go of fear or pride?
How can I embrace life more fully in this moment?
The heart is always ready to guide us if we listen. Sometimes, it whispers, “Go to Starbucks for someone,” and other times, it shouts, “Be brave enough to love fully.” Either way, it’s never wrong.
Thank you for letting me share this story. I hope it reminds you to trust your heart's wisdom and take the next step toward clarity, fullness, openness, and strength in your own life.
With love, Lisa-
Well done! These acts of kindness from our hearts live on in others.
